In 2011, the Diversity Awareness Committee of the Missouri Association of REALTORS® launched “Heroes Welcome Home — Making the American Dream Accessible for Our Veterans.” The program helped Missouri REALTORS® deepen their understanding for meeting the housing challenges of today’s veterans. REALTORS® attending the class earned the “Missouri Heroes Welcome Home” certification. Additionally, participating REALTORS® obtained tools and resources needed to effectively counsel veterans, including disabled veterans, about their real estate options. Topics covered during the program included Veteran Entitlements/Eligibility, the Home Buying Process, Family Challenges, Community Veteran Services, Adapting Homes to Accommodate Disabilities, Grants/Funding, and many other topics of interest.
