I believe the Code of Ethics has been violated. What can I do?
MAR has an Ethics Complaint procedure. An ethics complaint must cite which articles of the Code of Ethics you believe the REALTOR® has violated. Some of the possible disciplines, if found in violation of the Code, include ethics classes and fines. We cannot require an apology, impact the REALTOR®’s license, or get you out of the contract. For questions or concerns please contact Opal Evans or Alika Day, or call 800-403-0101.

How are ethics cases handled?

The Missouri Supplement contains forms specific to Missouri. For questions or concerns please contact Opal Evans or Alika Day, or call 800-403-0101.

The Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) is the state governing body overseeing real estate rules and regulations and specifically licensing for the state of Missouri. The Commission has its own complaint procedure, which is completely separate from ours. For more information, visit www.pr.mo.gov/realestate.asp or call 573-751-2628.

I have a problem with a REALTOR® but am not sure I want to file a formal complaint.  Any suggestions?
MAR has an ombudsman process available as a way to enhance communication and solve problems that may not necessarily be an ethics violation.  An ombudsman can contact you and the REALTOR® that you are having an issue with to try to help you come to a resolution.  For more information or to have an ombudsman get in touch with you, contact Opal Evans or Alika Day or call 800-403-0101.

I’m a REALTOR® involved in a commission dispute with another REALTOR®. What can I do?
MAR offers an Arbitration procedure for resolving commission disputes. MAR recommends that you try Mediation first because it’s a superior means of resolving commission disputes. Unlike arbitration, mediation is FREE, faster, keeps relationships intact, and allows for creative solutions (arbitration = win it all / lose it all). Mediation facilitators are REALTORS® specially trained by the National Association of REALTORS®. Decisions arrived at by arbitration and mediation are binding and enforceable by law. See Mediation.
