Jefferson City REALTOR® Alan Mudd Recognized as 2011 Missouri Good Neighbor Award Recipient
(January 18, 2012) – The Missouri Association of REALTORS® announced today that the 2011 Missouri Good Neighbor Award has been given to Alan Mudd of Jefferson City. The announcement was made during the Association’s annual Capitol Conference Luncheon at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
After teaching mathematics in the Jefferson City Public Schools system for 34 years, Mudd retired and launched a second career selling real estate. It was at about this same time that he began volunteering at the Samaritan Center, an interfaith social service agency located at 1310 E. McCarty Street in Jefferson City. “Alan Mudd is such a valuable volunteer and he helps us in so many ways. If I need something done, all I have to do is call Alan and I know it will get done,” said Marylyn DeFeo, Volunteer Director for the Samaritan Center. “He even tithes a portion of his commission from every home he sells. I know of no one else that has that kind of commitment to God and to the Board.” During the award presentation, Missouri Association of REALTORS’® 2012 President La Nora Kay presented DeFeo and the Samaritan Center with a $2,500 grant as part of the Good Neighbor Award program.
Mudd was nominated for the award by Donna Stone, Association Executive with the Jefferson City Area Board of REALTORS®. Stone knows him well, as he is a past President of the Jefferson City Board and has served as Central District Representative for the Missouri Association of REALTORS®. Mudd is a member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce, Rotary West, Eagles, and American Legion. He and his wife, Betty, have four children and seven grandchildren.
2011 marks the first year for the Missouri Good Neighbor Award. It was created to recognize and reward REALTORS® across the state for their dedication to volunteer service within their communities and is modeled after REALTOR® Magazine’s National Good Neighbor Awards. As a state award winner, Mudd will automatically be considered for one of the 2012 national awards, to be presented in November.
