(Columbia, MO – October 7, 2011) Area REALTORS® are joining together to help make the American dream of owning a home a reality for Missouri’s veterans. MISSOURI HEROES WELCOME HOME is a veteran-focused educational program hosted by the Diversity Awareness Committee of the Missouri Association of REALTORS® in cooperation with the Tri-Lakes Board of REALTORS® in Branson, Missouri.
Over 200 Missouri veterans are expected to attend the complimentary October 13th program, “Understanding & Meeting the Housing Challenges of Today’s Veterans” which will be held at Pointe Royale Resort in Branson (142 Club House Dr, Branson, MO 65616). The program will run from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A wide variety of speakers will present valuable information on such topics as, Grants and Funding Resources, Veteran Entitlements/Eligibility, Family Challenges, Community Veteran Services, Adapting Homes to Accommodate Disabilities, the Home Buying Process, etc. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet area REALTORS®, browse exhibitor tables, and obtain tools and resources designed to assist with many different real estate and home buying options for veterans.
“Our armed forces and their families have endured incredible sacrifice so that the rest of us can continue living ‘the good life,’” said Harriet Leenerts, President of the Tri-Lakes Board of REALTORS®. “There’s no adequate way to repay them for their service. However, we can certainly be ‘of service’ to them when they return home, and that’s what this program is all about. We want to make the American Dream of home ownership accessible to each and every one of our veterans.”
